Did your mom (or maybe your dad, but I bet it was Mom) ever tell you that it was better to give than to receive?
Did she have a wise saying that she liked to quote about helping others?
If she did, Mom would approve of content marketing.
This is because content marketing — publishing articles, blog posts, even social media posts — is all about helping people.
At least GOOD content marketing is!
Are you saying something like, “But I’m in business to make money, not to give out free help to people”?
Fair enough. But consider this …
By publishing useful information you’re helping people, but you’re also establishing authority in your industry. You’re positioning yourself as an expert … a friendly, likeable expert.
And because you truly are being helpful, people (your clients, customers, and prospects) are going to know, like and trust you. They’re going to be comfortable doing business with you because of this relationship you’ve built.
When they need your products and services, they’ll come to you instead of your competition.
Sound good?
Yeah, I know. Right?
So what should you write about? What kinds of posts and articles should you publish?
These three questions will help you figure that out:
1. What do people need to know about your industry to make good, smart buying decisions?
2. What problems are your clients, customers, and prospects looking to solve?
3. How can you make their lives better?
When you publish quality content that answers those questions, you’re positioning yourself as the go-to expert that people will know, like, and trust enough to do business with. Your business will grow and thrive.
My mom would call that a “win-win.”
Your turn …
