2 Video Tips to Make Your Next Facebook Live (or Any Other!) Video More Engaging
Online video is a powerful tool for connecting with your audience. At least it is when used properly and done well. These two tips will help you make your next video more engaging and more effective.
Tip 1: Where to Place Your Camera, Phone, or Video Device
Placement of your recording device is critical. Too high, and it’s awkward. Too low, and it’s like you’re talking down to your audience.
When you’re at the same eye level, though, it’s easier to connect. And this makes it easier for the other person to engage with you.
Using a tri-pod is the easiest way to put your device at a natural eye level, but you can also prop the device up on a box or a stack of books. Anything to get it up at the level of your face so that it feels like you’re sitting together with your audience having a conversation.
Tip 2: Where to Look When Recording
Make eye contact with your audience by looking directly into the camera lens of your device. Don’t look at yourself in the screen!
Eye contact makes your audience feel like they’re important, like they’ve got your full attention and focus. This is incredibly important for helping your audience feel a connection with you … so that they’ll engage.
