Working with a Marketing Coach Gives You an Edge
Would Working with a Marketing Coach Give You the Answers, the Guidance, and the Motivation You Need to Be a Smart, Successful Marketer? Yes. Yes, it Would.
The overweight woman stepping into a gym for the first time in a decade was immediately overwhelmed by all the choices in front of her — the equipment, the classes, what to do first, etc.
So she randomly tried one thing after another, trying to find her way.
She knew she needed to exercise more to be successful in losing weight and getting the body she wanted to live in. So she really tried to figure it all out. She tried to make it work for her.
But as the days passed, she found it harder to stay motivated, harder to show up and do the work, and pretty soon she gave up and stopped going to the gym at all.
What went wrong? A few things …
- She didn’t have a plan guiding her choices among all the workout possibilities available.
- She didn’t have anyone holding her accountable for continuing.
- She didn’t have a trusted advisor giving her feedback and guidance to help her achieve the results she wanted.
A personal trainer or fitness coach could have solved all these issues and helped her achieve success and reach her fitness goals, but she didn’t have a trainer or coach. She didn’t have help. And she ultimately failed … again.
Now let’s tell the same story, but instead of an overweight woman going to a gym, let’s talk about a business person — maybe someone in direct sales, a consultant, or someone running a professional services firm or home services company — trying to grow their business and make more money …
This business person has goals she wants to reach in her business. She wants to get more customers buying more of her products and services — which in turn will boost her profitability and put more money into her bank account.
She wants the extra money, but also the satisfaction of success. She wants the admiration of her spouse, family, and friends. She wants the respect of her peers.
She wants to be seen — by others and by herself — as smart and successful.
So she investigates the multitude of marketing strategies that exist — online, offline, and everything in between. There are so many possibilities!
And she is overwhelmed by all the choices in front of her.
She tries one strategy, then another. Then another catches her attention, and she tries it, too.
Soon, she finds it harder to stay motivated, harder to keep doing the work … and eventually it’s back to business as usual and she stops doing any extra growth marketing at all.
The same things went wrong with our business person as they did with the overweight woman who gave up on the gym …
- No plan
- No accountability partner
- No expert coach
And just as a personal trainer helps people reach their fitness goals, a marketing coach helps business owners reach their marketing goals.
Imagine …
Instead of trying to figure out on your own which marketing strategy is best suited to you, your business, and your goals …
Instead of fumbling and stumbling along trying to implement that strategy on your own …
Instead of hoping you did it right but wondering what you didn’t know to do (because we often don’t know what we don’t know) …
Instead of all that …
Imagine working with a marketing coach who will help you
- develop a plan customized to be exactly right for you
- make sure you’re doing what you need to do in order to implement your plan by checking in with you on a regular basis
- stay motivated by giving you feedback so that you know you’re on the right path
Would you have clarity in knowing exactly what to do? Yes.
Would you be motivated to stay on track and keep doing the work? Yes.
Would you be able to trust that you were doing the right things, even if they felt uncomfortable at first, because your coach is an expert on the subject? Yes.
Would you know, at the end of the day, that you’ve done all you can — everything in your power — to reach the goals you’ve set for yourself? Yes.
There is no shame in working with a coach. It actually shows you’re really smart and dedicated to achieving the results you want.
And it’s a proven fact that people who work with a coach DO see increased performance and better results.
Take my client Kathy, for example … She hired me to coach her through the final month of her fiscal year. She and her team were $24,000 away from their sales goal for the year, and an average month was just $14,000.
That’s a big increase, but they did it. Their final total for the month was $24,414 … pushing them over the top of their annual goal as well.
“Michele was so great to work with. I had total confidence in her abilities to guide me through this new unfamiliar venture for me … while making me feel comfortable in doing it. Her strategies were right on point, and I used as many of them as I could. I appreciated her as a coach — to mentor me, but also allowing me to have flexibility and input. She also asked the questions I needed to process through to get to the goal that I was going for.” ~Kathy Laughlin, Senior Sales Director Cadillac Unit, MaryKay

Sherry is another of my coaching clients. She says …
“I would much rather my coach and mentor, Michele, be teaching me what to do than me trying to figure it out. I like to think my time’s valuable in the places where I have strengths. So why stumble through it yourself when you can have Michele teach you?!” ~Sherry Trimble, Sales Vice President, Park Lane Jewelry
Yes, coaching works.
Would you hire a professional coach for your child who loved a sport and wanted a competitive advantage to go for a college scholarship? I think you would.
Would you hire a personal trainer for your overweight spouse who is frustrated by their inability to lose weight on their own? I know you would.
Would you hire a tutor (a coach) for your child who was struggling with a certain subject so that they could achieve better grades (better results)? Of course you would.
So will you hire a marketing coach to expertly guide you, motivate you, and keep you accountable to following through on your own dreams and goals for your business?
I hope so.
